when she grew up a little bit she fancied
small children. Apart from this, she
had a special soft corner for the elderly
women. So when she went to America
she served the cause of elderly women
over there a great deal. Furthermore she
was a true lover of the Holy Quran; she
memorized the whole Quran during
her studies at MIT. The distinct feature
of her memorization was that she knew
the whole translation and exegesis of the
Quran aswell. Andwhenever asked about
the verses regarding any special event
or an injunction, she used to recite the
verses and then narrate their translation
and explanation afterwards. So, she was
a topper student in her batch and was
memorizing Quran simultaneously in
this way.
She used to distribute the copies of Holy
Quran and its translations there. The
way different organizations display their
literature on the tables in the universities,
she used to keep the copies of HolyQuran
on a table with the title saying, “Free
Encyclopedia to your life”. All the money
she had, was spent upon buying these
copies. Many people used to pass by and
ask about the literature she displayed, she
used to respond, “It is the encyclopedia
to your life.” Sometimes I told her to
distribute some literature too to train
these people’s minds but her response
was that the Holy Prophet
ﷺ
was not
accustomed to long lectures. He used to
recite the Quranic verses. His arguments
were from this holy book and his whole
dawah revolved around it. Aafia used to
say that I feel pity for these people that
they have so much knowledge and they
are blessed with high intellects and even
then they cannot comprehend a very
simple thing. She told me about her class
fellow who used to listen to the music
to reduce her tensions and when the
pressure aggravated, she used to go to the
disco bar. The main gate of the bar says,
“Gateway to hell”. So Aafia wondered that
they themselves write on the entrances of
their bars that they are gateways to hell
and then enter them. Her friends asked
her how could you bear all this work
pressure without music, wine and disco
and she told them that she listened to the
Holy Quran to counter her tension.
As I already told you that Aafia had a
special affection for old people so when
she was there in America, she often
visited old houses where people left their
parents unattended. She used to look
after the old ladies, wash them, do their
hair. And she also went to the mentally
