Payam-e-Haya:
Tell us a little about
your background:
Ismat Siddiqui
:
My parents named me
Ismat Jahan. I was 6 months old, when
my father passed away and I was raised
by my mother and maternal grandfather.
After marriage I became Ismat Siddiqui.
From my paternal side we are direct
descendants of
Hazrat Umer
Farooq RA, the
second caliph
of Islam. The
great Saint of
the subcontinent
Saleemuddin
Chishti was
my great
grandfather’s
grandfather.
He is famous
for his prayer
for Mughal
Emperor
Akber Who then named his son Prince
Saleem after him. Prince Saleem famous
in history for his Universal Justice
for all ( adal-e-jahangiri) thus titled as
Emperor Jahangir. The famous shrine of
Saleemuddin Chishti in Fatepur (sikri,
India) was built by emperor Akber upon
his demise. My great grandfather’s name
was Munawwer Hussain Farooqi, he was
the ‘wazir’ of
Munawwerpur
named after him,
and still exists
in India. This is
the same town,
a small piece of
which was sold
for the then Rs
40,000 to lay
the foundation
of the Khilafah
movement
with Maulana
Muhammad Ali
and Shokat Ali
“My grandfather
was not only a landlord he
was also a famous lawyer of the
dehli darbar and I am told attorney
general of undivided India but he
gave up all his titles and dedicated
his life and assets to the
Khilafah movement and
struggle for
independence.”
