bnain gay! Muslim Muslim Bhai Bahi! Pakistan Ka matlab Kia La ilaha
Illa Allah!” the Congress children also used to have their processions
and their slogans were like, Hindu Muslim Bhai Bhai! This was the
point of dispute basically. Congress believed that all the inhabitants
of Hindustan are one nation. But on the other Muslim League and
the elders of Deoband (whom I named before) asserted that Muslims
and Hindus are not one nation but two distinct ones. The Holy Quran
has declared that Muslims and non-Muslims are distinct. The verse of
Surah Taghabun says, “He created you with some of you as believers
and others as non-believers”. All the prophets also asserted the same
principle that for you is your path and for me is mine. So, Muslims and
non-Muslims can never be a nation. Today the word nation is being
used in a different connotation. The non-Muslims are a ‘Millat’ and the
Muslims are another ‘Millat’. So we demanded that when India gets
freedom from Britian, there should be an independent Muslim state
in the areas of Muslim majority. It was totally irrational and illogical for
Muslims to be subjugated by Hindus after getting freedom from British
government. According to the census of India, the population was 40
carore out of which 10 carore were Muslims whereas 30 carore were
non-Muslims. So, in those days the manifesto of Congress stated
that upon the liberation of India, there would be a secular democratic
government which implied that Muslims as minorities would be ruled
by non-Muslim majority. If it were accepted today Pakistan would be
ruled by the current Prime Minister of India and we would have been
deprived of the blessing of independence conferred to us by Allah
Almighty onAugust 14 1947. When PakistanMovement was at its peak
and people observed that Pakistan will be formed soon, Ghaffar Khan
of Sarhad Province, who used to raise the slogan of one nation in India,
began pronouncing the nationalistic theory of Pakhtoonistan. It was
a huge challenge as they demanded an independent Pakhtoonistan.
At that time Quaid e Azam asked our elders to solve the issue. The
government of India had decided that through referendum they will
decide the issue of affiliation Of Sarhad with India or Pakistan. So,
Quaid e Azam asked Maulana Usmani to mobilize his students there
in Sarhad and arouse awareness for the cause of Pakistan. I believe it
happened in 1942 when Maula Usmani with my father, my brother Zaki
kaifi and Maulana mateen visited all the province of sarhad in deadly
hot summer.”
