and vowed to campaign for her release from an American jail.
Yousuf Raza Gilani’s comments appeared to be an attempt to manage public
anger over the 86 year sentence handed to Dr.Aafia Siddiqui. Gilani said he had
recently lobbied US officials for Siddiqi’s release to ‘improve the US image in
Pakistan.’
‘We are all united, and we want the daughter of the nation to come back
to Pakistan.” he told parliament, which unanimously adopted a resolution
demanding Aafia’s repatriation.

Imran Khan
(Chairman Pakistan Tehreek -e- Insaf)
We ask Pakistan Government to send an official delegation to the US to
negotiate the release of terrorism-accused Pakistani daughter ,Dr.Aafia Siddiqi.
We urged the PML-N to play the role of a responsible opposition party and raise
the Aafia issue in the National Assembly. PPP government should take concrete
steps for Dr. Aafia’s release ,and the entire nation should stand united on the
issue.
Walter Wolfgang
(Vice president CND)
My thoughts are with you as you gather together today to mark nine years of
the terrible injustice to Aafia Siddiqi and her children. Her abuse, torture and
shameful trial are almost beyond belief. We have a duty to tell the world what
has happened to her and the role of the US in her cruel ordeal. Aafia should
be freed now to the protection of her family and her surviving children. The
report of her illness makes it all the more urgent that she should be released
immediately from the nightmare of her imprisonment.
