Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui:
See even small actions matter a lot like liking the cause on
website, writing a favorable comment on facebook etc. People say that we cannot
do anything why? We can share though a little bit. As long as she is alive there
is a hope for her return. The main thing is that more the number of followers will
be, more will be the pressure. If not any other help, one can write a message on
mobile and forward it to raise the awareness that it has been eleven years that Afia
is imprisoned. And this is not issue of one Afia rather a matter of national prestige
and the sanctity of all our daughters sisters and mothers. Simple donations for her
release can help a lot. Aafia’s family had the resources Alhamdulillah so they were
able to pursue her case and keep her name alive.
However now the burden is becoming too much thats why you see long silent
periods. Also, there are many others whom people know as “missing persons”
and they are suffering from such torments and torture without recognition. If they
are suffering today, tomorrow any of us could be at their place. If we Pakistani
will not raise voice for our fellow Pakistani brothers and sisters what will be our
international image? We are losing dignity internationally because of our indifferent
and ruthless attitude.
Take the instance of Raymond Davis, he was a killer and a convict but American
government pressurized and took him back as he was their citizen. See how India
took back their councilor who was a convict too and poor Afia is innocent whereas
that Indian lady violated American laws. But America could not detain her as the
whole Indian nation stood up for their country fellow. And our nation? Our nation
itself hands over people to others willingly as if we have no worth at all. Today why
we are having catastrophes and American drone attacks because we do not take
stand for our prestige. If once we stand united, no one would ever dare, no one
would ever dare!
